About this Course

This course and learning program centers around critical components in both interior and exterior decoration of various surfaces that affect the health, safety and wellness of the print provider, the AEC implementer and the end user. Because of a recent transition away from solvent inks - which are combustible, flammable and comprised of nearly 90 percent hazardous materials, the aim for this classwork is to clearly explain the advantages of water-based ink systems which are comprised of 65% water, have no HAPs (Hazardous Air Pollutants) and are odorless. The main focus of the coursework centers around three pillars of graphics - wall graphics, introducing white ink into architectural applications and understanding the emergence of architectural fabrics. Each and every component of these three pillars is carried forth to the ultimate occupant of the built environment. Lastly, the course recipient will develop a strong understanding of substrate choice points, key performance criteria and the environmental stewardship certifications that these applications carry.
